Some challenges and playing around

I really wanted to particiapte in Lilypad cards' Sketch Challenge so after a little thought this is what I came up with:

Flowers and leaves made from MT Washi and Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
Leaves punched out with Martha Stewart Punch
Dry embossed lines done with bone folder and stylus
Sentiment from Hero Arts CL129

And a closeup:

Loving how these flowers turned out. I really need to do a video tutorial on how I made them, I just can't find my camera!

It had been a while since I had made any accessories, so I decided to have a little fun with shrink plastic:

With actual stamp for size reference
I'll wear it to work tomorrow and see if anyone notices, it's cute and with a hint of nerd. I love it!

Oh and here's how my henna turned out:

I took the photo during the day, but it's gotten even darker now!
Thanks for peeking in!

Practising Henna

I've been pinning some Moroccan henna designs to my Pinterest Board, so I decided to try copying one of the designs to get back into practice. Here's what I ended up with:

Don't mind my radioactive nails ;)
Original design by the ridiculously talented Kenzi (aka Lisa Butterworth)

Original design by Darcy Vasudev

It was quite dry by the time I took a photo of the pattern, the bits had already started flaking off. The stain gets darker in a day or so. I'll take another photograph if the colour is rich enough for my liking :)

Cycle Hi!

I really wanted to enter some challenges, just for fun and inspiration so I made this card:

Painted with Distress Stains and metallic acrylic paint
with Stickles, Glossy Accents, gems for bling
All stamps: Lawn Fawn

Happy flowers slide up to say Hi!
The background was made with a stencil, by flicking an old toothbrush with watercolours, something which I haven't in a very long time. I love that spattered paint look so much, I will do a whole background full of delicious spatters!

I have entered this card in the following challenges:

Altered Ikea Malma Mirrors

Our staircase was a little bare, so I decided to buy some inexpensive mirror frames from good ol' Ikea and jazz them up with some paint and embossing powders. Here the result:

Wow Embossing Powder: Earthtone Paprika

On Saturday I also attended an introductory Arts Therapy class which was amaaaaazing and I can quite easily see myself doing something like that in the future: combining two of my interests: counselling and art! For a little while we were let loose on some papers and oil pastels, and here was what I did:

First time I used oil pastels, I will definitely consider getting myself some to play with. My wishlist runneth over, le sigh!
I also use to do a lot of henna work (back in the day haha) and have recently become interested in restarting it again. I love the smell of henna, and seeing henna on my hands brings back memories of happy times with friends and family. I will try to find photographs of the henna that was done for my wedding and upload those here.  I have ordered a henna cone which I am hoping will arrive soon, but in the meanwhile, my trusty Inksentials Enamel Accents would have to do and I practised some morrocan style patterns with it:

I think I fancy doing a whole card the same way!

Just because I haven't been blogging ...

Doesn't mean I haven't been creating!

Just sharing some stuff I have completed and have been working on:

Practising calligraphy:
 A wip art journal page:
Page posing with unofficially the best white marker in my world: Uni Posca!
closeup up of delicious lettering, could still be a bit better, but I LOVE this font!

Card for Hero Arts Challenge, using Distress Stains and lovely Wow Embossing powders :)

And finally an Embossing Sampler canvas that I slaaaaaaaaaaaaved over. I love how it turned out :)
I think I will probably make a card using each of the techniques that I used in each section of the above 12"x12" canvas.

Hope everyone is doing well, and thanks for peeking in! I will enter this as my first WOYWW entry :D
